Opening night from Hell

It was. Honestly, it was. It was like a war - and as anyone knows, the first casualty in war is the battle plan (ie. the script). I have never known a worse first night. We were worse than both the dresses! The only consolation is that we seemed to get better after the interval - actually, fewer prompts, but more lines were missed or mangled. We've got another four nights to go. It's not often that people say to us, "I'm coming to see it on Thursday," and we reply, "We might know it by then," in seriousness, rather than jest.

I've known difficult first nights but that sounds bad.
