Whenever I hear Smashmouth's "All Star" (like in the Shrek opening credits, or on the radio, or in the background in a shop), I get the urge to write a filk called "All that glitters is Goa'uld". Thing is, apart from the movie, the series pilot, and a few bits here and there, I've never seen any Stargate - so it's a bit of a non-starter as ideas go for me.

And yet you can still spell Goa'uld properly unlike many fanfic writers out there (who you'd like to think had seen the show, but...) :-)

Exactly - it's not hard to check, but the writers of the less-good fanfic simply don't bother :-)
