What a lovely nice warm day it has been. Just perfect for tramping round three London boroughs trying to get libraries to display leaflets for my books. The first had a flat "no advertising" policy (which begs the question of what the flyers for things like the London Dungeon were doing in their display racks), one was shut, two were being rebuilt (or refurbished, or demolished), two only took things for charities or local events, two accepted on approval of the librarian, one accepted direct, and one was on approval of the librarian, who was at tea when I got there, and never came back off it, so I left some leaflets and a note. I was asked once what sort of target audience it was for, and I completely forgot I had an answer prepared - "if it was a movie, it'd probably be a 12A". One of the ones that refused thought I was looking for other players to start a gaming group - how she arrived at that conclusion, I don't know. Either the leaflets are somehow psychically active regarding how their subject matter was created, or that particular librarian must have had a lot of similar requests in the past.

Anyway, of the 500 leaflets purchased, I've managed to distribute about half of them. I'm hoping to be able to give out some more this weekend, as I'm involved in "Too Many Monkeys" entry to the London Short Film Festival. Plus I've got time to investigate other places to leave them, and I can always try the libraries trick again once I move back to Yorkshire later this month.
