I'm up in Yorkshire for a few days. A couple of weeks ago, I applied for a job at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, and as I thought I stood a pretty good chance of being interviewed, I figured I'd better make arrangements to be in the area. It just so happens that last night was the last night of Run for Your Wife at SLT, but more on that later. So I came up yesterday afternnon for the last night of the play, and I'm staying here until after the interview date. But the Armouries didn't notify me that I hadn't got the interview until Friday anyway, so it's really a bit of a waste of time, right? Looking on the bright side, they actually notified me that they weren't going to interview me this time, instead of, like many places, just ignoring me. This kind of thing really gets me down, y'know?

Anyway, back to last night. The play's leading lady was someone I have mentioned before on here, as someone I'd really like to get to know better (at the very least). I was all set - see the play, join the last night party, spend quite a bit of it talking to her, ask her if she'd like dinner on Monday, that sort of thing. But, directly in keeping with my usual performance in these matters, I blew it. Bad timing meant I didn't sit near her at the pub or the restaurant, complete lack of bottle meant I didn't find it in myself to talk to her afterwards. I texted her before I went to bed last night, asking her out. She's too busy this week, apparently (actually, that's entirely believable, I just have no way of knowing if that's the only reason she doesn't want dinner with me).
