Ambition thwarted
Nov. 27th, 2006 12:16 pmI am so pissed off, words cannot begin to encompass just how badly pissed off I am.
I booked this trip a couple of months ago. I've always wanted to travel on the Flying Scotsman, which is the train that leaves London Kings Cross for Edinburgh at 10am. So, seeing as I'm living in London, and I have some money to spare, I booked the ticket. First class.
I booked the time off work.
I arranged a mini AFP meet in Edinburgh for something to do.
I promised someone some pictures from the city.
I checked the train times from Hayes to Paddington, and from Paddington to LKX.
I made sure I got up early. I showered. I shaved. I dressed in comfortable clothes. I had breakfast (a rarity). I got my kit together (laptop, charger, camera, MD player, food, chocolate, book). I killed the few minutes I had available.
I set off. I went to the bank. I got to the station at a few minutes before 9am. The trains I could get were at 8.49 (missed), 9.07, 9.11, and if I really wanted to push my luck, 9.17
The next train to arrive at Hayes for Paddington was at 9.15, billed as the 9.11!
It arrived late at Paddington. I got to the underground station as quick as I could, just missed a Circle train, so waited five minutes for the next one. District to Edgware Road, change to H&C (two min wait, then spend another 2mins in the station). The time is now 9.51.
The train sets off for Baker street. We spend four minutes stopped in the tunnel. We arrive at Baker Street. We spend at least another four minutes with the doors open in the station. As it is now 10am, I get off in disgust, having missed my train, lost my day out, been forced to postpone my ambition, unable to make it to the meet, and unable to get the pictures!
I am so claiming on the insurance for this.
I am not a happy bunny. >:-((
