Just seen it on DVD. It's certainly one of Gilliam's more comprehensible movies. And it's also the first movie I've seen in ages that I've really enjoyed - I found it very satisfying to watch, a very ... uplifting viewing experience.

Wow.

The Fisher King is, if not my *very* favourite film, then at least in the list of the top three or four. Despite Robin Williams generally being himself, it's a feelgood movie, and makes you feel as if it's possible for even the most grumpy, self-obsessed, (and of course, guilt-wracked) jerk (i.e. Jack) to find happiness, and to learn to give his partner the love she deserves. (Anne is my favourite character)
And the Parry/Lydia story - two rather unusual people, neither of them completely gorgeous, both lacking in confidence, finding each other. "Are you my girl?" That's about the only part of any film that brings a lump to my throat... :-)
Great film, deserves watching again and again. And the waltz scene in the Grand Central Station is excellent too.

The fisher king is definitely one of my most favorite films ever. I hate Robin Williams but even he was good in this. Im not sure if jeff bridges should have gotten his girlfriend back in the end it was a bit too much of a happy ending for me. still love the film. Can't wait to see tideland. there are only two films that have ever made my mother cry to kill a mocking bird and the fisher king.
