Dec. 24th, 2011 02:56 pmSo, remember a couple of weeks back when I mentioned that we'd been upgraded to cable?
Turns out "upgrade" is a complete misnomer.
Pros: We now have a tivo, half a dozen extra TV channels, and the ability to watch a recorded programme while up to three others record.
Cons: We don't watch anything on the extra TV channels, the wifi signal to my laptop shuts down every half hour (or usually, less), no landline, I've had to buy a package upgrade so I could update my website using the broadband, and so far today, my laptop has been completely unable to detect the wifi network. It's fine with detecting other wifi networks, but it can't detect the one it's supposed to be on, even when it's right next to the router. The only way I'm able to post this is because I plugged in a LAN cable from the laptop to the router. That rather misses the point of having wifi, really.
So, my sister's coming round tomorrow, she'll be able to help me persuade mum to go back to a BT landline, and wifi that actually does what it's supposed to do. Needless to say, I will be complaining to Ofcom about this.
