Oct. 14th, 2011 10:58 pmAnother week at MTG over. Spent most of it hanging around the tech team in the buildup to the production of Stig of the Dump. Couldn't really help much because of my late entry to the production, and unfamiliarity with the systems. Made myself as useful as possible in the lead up to the premier on Thursday evening, which I saw from the tech box. At the reception afterwards, I felt a bit awkward. It wasn't until I left to catch my train home that I realised it was I feeling a bit left out of things, and maybe a bit jealous. You see, the production features my two best mates from last year, when I was on the making theatre course with them. One of them got promotion to acting company along with me. And now, until the tour finishes, I'm going to be on my own in unfamiliar territory. Okay, yes, I worked a little with the acting company last year, and we mingled enough to get to know each other a bit, but I'm still going to be deprived of the company of the two people I know and get along with best for the next seven weeks. I think I'm going to be bit lonely. That feeling was re-inforced when I went to see the show "officially" tonight.
Also on Thursday, Matthew (from the acting module of making theatre last year) handed out invites to his 21st birthday party. I can see problems with me being there, already. Since he lives in Wakefield, that's where it's going to be. Also, most of the people there will be roughly the same age as him, and I'll feel like I'll be looming like the spectre of approaching old age. Still, it's not everyday I get an invite to anything, so maybe I'll think of a way to get there and back again.
Tomorrow I've got my reading at the Morley Lit Festival. That'll make the third day in a row that I'll be having dinner not at the usual time. And first thing next week I'm going to Beechcliffe school for a project - not entirely sure what, because I was doing tech when the others were briefed on it. First they told me in on Monday as normal, then they told me in an hour earlier than normal on Monday, then I suggested I could meet the others at the front gates, save me a journey into Bradford and back to Keighley in a car. They agreed.
My brain is already working feverishly on ideas for what I will refer to enigmatically as "the fifth duck" until such time as I can tell you more.
