I ransacked my music collection this morning. I need raw material to record over onto MD - there is such a thing as a 1GB Super-MiniDisc that can hold over 75 CDs of music. I'd forgotten quite how large my single collection was. Not that I brought them all down with me, that would have required more luggage than I was prepared to carry, but I got a substantial number of them.

I remember that back in my heady days at uni, I did have enough singles to listen to a different one each morning and not repeat myself for over a year. I slowed down after uni, transferring to albums instead, but I still have roughly 500 CD singles, and at least 50 CD albums (many of them double, and about half "Now" albums). That's an incredible 4 days, 16 hours and 30 minutes of music on albums alone, with a further 1 day, 5 hours 10 minutes of A-side singles and at least double that with B-sides. That's 8 days and 8 hours of music. Okay, quite a few tracks are duplicated between the albums and the singles, but not a signifigcant amount, I'd have thought. And, while it mainly concentrates on indie and rock music, there are also ballads, pop songs, dance tunes, soundtracks, ska, hip-hop...

Methinks I'm going to enjoy the next few weeks.
