Busy few days
Nov. 6th, 2007 09:35 pmSaturday and Sunday I spent mostly getting my new laptop working. I bought it in June as an early birthday present - my old one is at least 5 years old, the U key has come loose, and it sounds decidedly dodgy on startup (which takes about five minutes and eats up all but 30mins of battery time). So, I started using it on or around my birthday, and soon after it crashed. Took it back home to where I bought it for repair, turns out somehow the windows install was corrupt. So now it's repaired, and BriD very kindly brought it down when he came to London last. So now it's up and running, all software installed, not quite all files transferred across (but I'm working on that). Still finding a few niggles, though, which will be ironed out over time. CivIII Conquests crashes immediately upon startup, f'rinstance.
Anyway. Plotbunnies were purged in the first two days, so I took the opportunity of having 10k words to take a break over the weekend. Started writing again on Monday - can't lose momentum.
My OU coursework is becoming something of a scramble. I'm at least three weeks behind on the long course, up-to-date on the easy short courses (but not done the CMA due for this weekend on one of them - the other's CMA was two weeks ago, which I did four weeks ago), and a week behind on the important short course. That's the one that is part 1 of 6 for the Cert in Web Apps Dev, and I just signed up for the part 2 course as well, so that's Feb-Apr taken care of.
I have to sign again tomorrow at the job centre, and Thursday is my 3-month review. Once those are out of the way, I should really be able to concentrate on the OU stuff. Tomorrow morning, I can catch up on the long course, then swot for the CMAs on Thursday, and catch up properly on Friday.
