Michael Jackson's dead. Big deal. Get over it. Everyone's gushing about how he changed the face of music, how he was such a great performer, and so on. No one seems to be mentioning the fact that he bankrupted himself hiring lawyers to defend him from child molestation charges twice, had maybe three decent hits in his entire career which ended over 15 years ago, and was making a final comeback tour to try and finance his dreamworld lifestyle.

Washed-up celebs die every day, and you don't see this much hype about them. Move on, people.

There are plenty of people overlooking the fact that he was never found guilty of anything, and would probably have been classed a "vulnerable adult" had he been over here. He had more than three decent hits, and still holds the record for the best selling album of all time. Frankly I am just as sick of the people who seem to feel a need to badmouth him as I am of the gushers.

He had quite a number of decent hits, and for that he's worth remembering. I wouldn't really call him 'washed-up', although he might have been before long.

Incidentally, the bankruptcy also came from over-spending.

I can understand people making a fuss over it, although I'm personally not bothered either way. What I thought stupid was that Gordon Brown's mouthpiece Made A Pronouncement about it. Why our Prime Minister thought that necessary is beyond me.

I'm not trying to badmouth, just trying to provide some perspective. And just because someone had a high-charting song, doesn't necessarily mean that song was any good. Liberty-X, for instance.

However, the sheer volume of good quality music that the man turned out over the years does make him one of the musical performer greats. The man may not have been much, but the stuff he turned out was, on the whole, very good, and he certainly wasn't a "one hit wonder". What you were adding was not "perspective", it was just plain nasty. Yes, there's too much hype going on, but that is hardly his fault - he's dead. If you're looking for where to have a jibe try the media.
