NaNoWriMo starts in ten days. As usual, I will be writing the next book in the series. However, this year, the series ends - the final book will be written.

Book IX - The Dragon

War! Invasion! Massacre! Betrayal! Mercenaries!

The Burning Rose have quite spectacularly failed in their mission to avert a war with an enemy that has a dragon. As a punishment, they are not allowed to take part in the desperate defence of the North against the massive army of fanatics fielded by the Sword Bearers. Instead, they have to journey into a legendary wasteland and find a talisman that can help them defeat the dragon. Without the dragon, it might just be possible to defeat the Nataran army that outnumbers the armies of the North by at least two-to-one.

As a final piece of teasing before I disappear and start writing: You know those Trilogy bumper volumes I prepare? The ones that contain three books in the series, have an author's introduction, and an exclusive short story that will never be seen anywhere else?
The short story for the third Trilogy will be called "How Time Passes..."

My computer is being slow and the weather is so nice I'm feeling unjustifiably lazy. Still, eBooks were promised, and eBooks you shall get:
Books VII and VIII of Have Sword & Sorcery: Will Travel™ are now available as eBooks at Lulu, Apple iBookstore, Barnes & Noble NOOK, Amazon Kindle, Kobo, and maybe some others.
Well, in theory they are anyway, I don't know how long it'll take them to actually appear on the sites, but they are OFFICIALLY available. The rest of the series will follow suit tomorrow (probably in reverse order).
Remember - you can only get the Trilogies and their exclusive short stories in dead-tree format!

Well, that took longer than expected. Nevertheless, Book VIII is now available to buy from Lulu.com.

The main reason it took so long is that Lulu have changed their formats, and so, like a book series that changes the cover style whenever it's reprinted, all the books are now available in the same size! Yes, instead of the unwieldy 6"x9", all the single books are now the same size as a normal novel (4.25"x6.87"). The trilogies will remain larger, at A5 size (5.8"x8.5"), to cut down on spine thickness.

Currently e-books are not available, but they will start to be made available again on Friday.

Things that will happen in the next year (possibly in chronological order):

  • Preparation and release of new format print and ebooks of the series (including Book VIII in early April)

  • Write the exclusive short story for the final trilogy compendium

  • Write more short stories for online release

  • Make full version of the map available

  • Write Book IX

Sorry folks, formatting issues mean there will be another 24h delay on the release of The Budding Rose Trilogy
sabremeister: (Author)
Slight delay to the publication of The Budding Rose Trilogy. It should be available on Monday.
sabremeister: (Author)
Later this month I shall be writing a new short story, entitled "How I Met Your Mother". However I won't be posting it online. You will only be able to read it if you buy the compilation of the second trilogy in the series.
The second trilogy will include the complete contents of Books IV, V and VI, and the exclusive print-only "How I Met Your Mother". It's a story from the reasonably-recent past, and deals with some of the events that made Landry of Filamo famous.
The book itself will be available in early December through the usual channels.

I am currently selling Book I of Have Sword & Sorcery: Will Travel on EBay.
The listing is here.

If anyone's going to the Discworld Convention in Birmingham this weekend, I will be selling my books at a stall in the dealers' room there.
sabremeister: (Default)
I have been offered a part in the opening ceremony. The part requires I bring a costume with bulky and heavy bits. I am also going to be a dealer (selling my books again), so I have to bring all my merchandise and so on. I have no car, and getting all that down to Birmingham by train (especially the change at New Street) is going to be very difficult. Can anybody please help?

Pertinent details are:
I live in Keighley in West Yorkshire, but I can get to Leeds, Bradford or Skipton with relative ease.
I am need to arrive at the hotel by Friday lunchtime, and will be leaving on the Tuesday morning.
I am prepared to pay towards petrol costs
Total luggage space needed is roughly 1.5m x 1m x 0.75m (4'6 x 3'4 x 2'6), which can be re-arranged and broken down, but not by much since I will have three bulky/awkwardly-shaped bags/cases.

Thank you.

Customs & Duty

There's a vicious new bandit chief operating in the area. There's also a conspiracy to usurp King Dashell and prevent his marriage to Queen Elspeth (for economic reasons, not political). Guess who gets hired to sort it all out?

If there's one piece of advice a young soldier of fortune might get from an older one, it would probably be, "never mess with religion, politics, or trade". This does tend to cut down the available avenues of work, though. So with a coup being plotted and not much time left before it swings into action, Alys, Cullan, Kenyon and Morgan have to take their new mercenary company after the ringleaders, and hope they don't get involved with all three at once.

eBook £2.00

HS&S:WT Book VI, written last November with the working title, "Exit, Pursued by Bear", now has a new title that's slightly more relevant. It is now known as, "Customs & Duty".

It is also going to be delayed by a couple of weeks. I've been having a lot of shit from MTG and the DWP recently, and I've just not been able to do everything I should due to the stress this has caused, and so instead of an Easter release, it's going to be released on Monday the 23rd of April, which just happens to be St. George's Day.
